How MyCIL’s TSC Students Benefit

MyCIL’s TSC is the only facility of its kind in the area — serving 15+ districts from 3 counties in NEPA region — offering young adults with disabilities the training and support they need to achieve their individual independent living goals.

The real-world job skills the students practice while participating in TSC Is Spreading Petals is key to achieving their independent living goals. They also get the invaluable opportunity to engage with the community. By giving to others in need, MyCIL’s TSC students foster a greater sense of self-worth while boosting their self-confidence.

How Our Community Benefits

We partner with newlyweds who through TSC Is Spreading Petals can complete their first charitable act as a couple: donating their flowers so they can continue to spread love and joy.  Other special event hosts, such as bar and bat mitzvahs, as well as memorial service providers, floral vendors and donors provide us with flowers that would otherwise be discarded so we can repurpose them.

MyCIL’s TSC students redesign the larger compositions into individual floral arrangements and distribute them to nursing homes, hospice units and senior living centers. These flowers become symbols of joy and caring to a community that is often overlooked. Flowers ease depression, inspire social interaction, and both refresh and enrich recent memory.

MyCIL has proven time and again to be a valuable resource and information clearinghouse on matters related to disability awareness, acceptance, and accommodation.

We particularly like how MyCIL’s professionals have come up with special projects that allow these kids to get involved in the community and become contributing members of society.
